Meet the Instructors
Julie Markel, RYT-200, RCYT, Pilates Mat Level I, Kettlebell Level I
Julie’s journey into wellness began through a lifelong connection to movement. Growing up as a multi-sport athlete, she was naturally drawn to nature, music, and meditation. After experiencing several injuries—and gaining firsthand perspective as a physical therapy patient—she developed a deep appreciation for the role movement plays in both physical and mental well-being. This awareness led her to the healing practices of Pilates and yoga, where she discovered not only recovery, but purpose. Today, she is passionate about offering inclusive practices that support all levels, ages, abilities, and interests.
Julie is a registered 200-hour yoga teacher and a 95-hour children’s yoga teacher through Yoga Alliance. She also holds a kettlebell level I certification and earned her Pilates Mat Level I certification from PHI Pilates Studio in Pittsburgh. She is currently completing coursework to become a trauma-informed yoga instructor, further expanding her ability to support students in a safe and compassionate environment.
Her goal is to meet clients at a soul level—creating a space where individuals feel welcomed, accepted, and encouraged. Julie’s teaching style is skillful yet playful, incorporating props and thoughtful modifications to ensure a personalized and empowering class experience.
Outside the studio, Julie enjoys live music and outdoor adventures with her husband, Austin, their three sons, and two dogs. True to her Pisces nature, she feels most at home near the water—whether boating, kayaking, or paddleboarding.
