Domestic Goat

Domestic goats were tamed over 10,000 years ago from wild goats in southwestern Asia and eastern Europe, and have since become one of the most versatile animals. Goats provide meat, milk, hides, fur, and even dung for energy production! Today, there are over 300 breeds of domestic goats worldwide.

At our zoo, we care for a charming herd of goats from various breeds like Boer, Saanen, and Nigerian dwarf goats. They enjoy a healthy diet of sweet feed, hay, and foraging throughout the day. Visitors can even purchase low-calorie puffed feeder chow to feed them!

Our goats love to be brushed by guests, explore climbing structures, and munch on browse like grape, sugar maple, and sweetgum leaves. We’ve also added mounted brushes for the goats to enjoy a little self-care.

Come meet our playful goats and have some fun getting to know these quirky animals!
