Join us in growing a greener future
Join us in planting 15 trees to revitalize Wheeling Park, part of our goal to plant 100 trees after 2022’s devastating double derecho.
As Wheeling Park celebrates its 100th anniversary, we’re honoring the past while investing in the future. In 2022, a devastating double derecho swept through the park, taking down over 100 trees and leaving a lasting impact on our landscape. Thanks to a generous grant, we were able to begin the restoration process by planting 50 trees on the golf course the following year, followed by an additional 12 trees last fall. Our commitment to revitalizing Wheeling Park’s natural beauty continues, with plans to plant 15 trees this year, 15 next year, and 8 in the third year—bringing our total to 100 new trees.
Beyond restoring what was lost, these trees will enhance the park’s ecosystem by improving water conservation, preventing erosion, sequestering carbon, and filtering air pollutants. They will also support local biodiversity, ensuring Wheeling Park remains a vibrant, thriving space for generations to come. Join us in celebrating a century of history by helping us plant and grow the next 100 years.
Volunteers will receive a complimentary lunch served at White Palace. This event is free and open to the public and will take place rain or shine.
