October 5-7, 2018
Oglebayfest began in 1978 in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Oglebay Park. Since then, Oglebayfest has grown into a major event and provides an annual ‘thank-you’ to all who visit us year-round.
PHIL MAXWELL ARTISTS AND GOURMET MARKET
Located in Mansion Woods next to the Mansion Museum, the Phil Maxwell Artists and Gourmet Market features regional foods and an extensive display of fine handcrafted wares plus a chance to see some of the tri-state’s best artisans at work. Artists and gourmet food producers interested in exhibiting at Oglebayfest may review the application and full list of requirements below.
OHIO COUNTY FAIR
Located at Levenson Shelter, the Ohio County Fair features displays of elaborate quilts, homegrown foods, and gentle animals on Saturday and Sunday. The fair offers a variety of traditional fair demonstrations and competitions for all ages including quilting demonstrations, butter making, hog calling, fiddling, rock throwing, and baby crawling competitions. It is also host to the West Virginia Pony Pull Championship and the baked goods auction.
PARADE & FIREWORKS
Two crowd-pleasing favorites- the Oglebayfest parade and fireworks- will take place on Saturday, October 6, 2018. The parade begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Oglebay Good Zoo, and an electrifying fireworks display will light up the evening sky over Schenk Lake at 8:00 p.m.
During Oglebayfest, Ihlenfeld Dining Room in Wilson Lodge offers special menus and buffets including the Seafood Buffet on Friday evening from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. The Rathskeller, located at Hess Shelter, is one of Oglebayfest’s most popular destinations. This German style beer garden offers dozens of seasonal and domestic brews. The Wagon Shed, next to Hess Shelter, also offers German inspired food service.
The Country Kitchen and the Ohio County Fair will be serving up goodies at Levenson Shelter and Site One. The Oglebay Garden Bistro will be serving delicious food throughout the festival, and snacks and sandwiches will be available at the Good Zoo, Schenk Lake, and the Artists’ Market Woods. Fudge, candy, and beverages will be available at Farmhouse Sweets & Treats Shoppe.
Oglebay’s retail shops are open during Oglebayfest including Carriage House Glass, the Nature Express Shop at the Good Zoo, Wheeling Civic Center Garden Center, Farmhouse Sweets & Treats Shoppe, and the Speidel Pro Shop at the Hamm Clubhouse.
OGLEBAYFEST 5K & 1-MILE COUCH POTATO CRAWL
