The Wheeling Park Commission is proud to announce that Oglebay Park Resort has been named a winner in Good Housekeeping’s 2026 Travel Awards. The full list of awards can be found at goodhousekeeping.com/travel2026.
Oglebay Park Resort was recognized as a winner in the Outdoor Exploration category. This national recognition comes at an exciting time for Oglebay Park Resort, following a series of recent renovations designed to enhance the guest experience. In August, the resort celebrated one year since unveiling its newly refreshed accommodations and amenities—marking a milestone in Oglebay’s continued investment in comfort, hospitality, and recreation.
“Oglebay Park Resort has long been a destination where families come together to make memories,” said Wheeling Park Commission President & CEO Bob Peckenpaugh. “This recognition from Good Housekeeping is a testament to our team’s commitment to excellence, as well as to the enduring magic that makes Oglebay such a special place to visit in every season.”
From scenic lodging and outdoor recreation to the Oglebay Good Zoo, The West Spa, Arnold Palmer and Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed golf courses, dining, and seasonal festivals, Oglebay Park Resort offers a wide variety of enriching activities for guests of all ages. Visitors can explore over 2,000 acres of parkland by bike, segway tours, horseback, or on foot; enjoy hands-on animal encounters and conservation experiences; unwind at the spa or on the green; and gather with friends and family for concerts, light shows, and year-round celebrations. Whether seeking adventure, relaxation, or connection, Oglebay is a place where guests return season after season.
This latest honor from Good Housekeeping joins a growing list of national and regional accolades that recognize Oglebay Park Resort as a premier destination for all seasons. In 2024, Oglebay was named the #1 Holiday Hotel in the U.S. by USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards — a testament to the magic and tradition that make the resort a cherished holiday destination. In 2025, Oglebay has been nominated once again for this prestigious national recognition.
The resort was also honored with the Tourism Project of the Year award from West Virginia Tourism for its innovative contributions to the state’s visitor experience — underscoring Oglebay’s leadership in creative placemaking and experiential programming. In addition, Wheeling Park Commission President & CEO Bob Peckenpaugh was named West Virginia’s Tourism Professional of the Year, in recognition of his vision and leadership behind the award-winning project.
Together, these honors reflect Oglebay’s continued commitment to excellence, innovation, and unforgettable guest experiences.
