Membership Questions

• How long is a Good Zoo membership valid?

  Good Zoo memberships are valid for one year from the date of purchase and expire on the last day of the purchase month the following year.

• How do I access my Good Zoo membership card?

  After purchasing your membership, you'll receive an email receipt with a link to your digital membership card. Look for the yellow "Membership Card" link near the bottom of the receipt. From there, you can view your card, download it as a PDF, or save it to your digital wallet.

  If you purchase your membership at the zoo, you'll also receive an email with your membership card link once your information has been entered into the system. Please allow a little time for processing.

  If you prefer a physical card, you may request one for a $5 fee. The same fee applies to replacement cards if a printed membership card is lost.

• How do I use my Good Zoo membership?

  Present your digital or printed membership card along with a valid photo ID when you arrive at the zoo. You can show your membership card directly from your mobile device, save it to your digital wallet, or use a screenshot for quick access. Having both your membership card and photo ID ready will help speed up admission.

• What if I forget or lose my membership card?

  Your digital membership card is always available through the email receipt you received when purchasing your membership. If you can't locate it, contact the Good Zoo office at 304-243-4100 or ZooOffice@oglebay.com and we'll resend it.

  If you purchased a printed card and lose it, replacement cards are available for a $5 fee.

• Do I need a photo ID to use my membership?

  Yes. Adult members must present a valid photo ID along with their membership card each time they visit. This helps protect memberships from unauthorized use.

• How do I renew my Good Zoo membership?

  Memberships can be renewed online or by visiting the Good Zoo office.

• Can I purchase a Good Zoo membership as a gift?

  Yes. Good Zoo memberships can be purchased as gifts. To complete the purchase, you'll need the names of up to two adult members, a mailing address, phone number, email address, and the names and birthdates of any children or grandchildren included on the membership.

  You can also purchase an Oglebay gift card to cover the cost of a membership.

• Who can be included on my membership?

  Family memberships include dependent children under age 18. Grandparent memberships include grandchildren under age 18. Adult children are not eligible. Additional children, such as nieces, nephews, friends' children, or children you babysit, cannot be added unless your membership includes unnamed guest privileges.

• Can I choose who the second named adult is?

  Yes. Any membership may include up to two named adults. The second named adult does not have to be your spouse. Both named adults must present a photo ID when visiting.

• Can someone else bring my children using my membership?

  Yes. A childcare provider must have the membership card for the children with them. The children will receive admission and the childcare provider can be admitted as an "unnamed guest," if applicable, or pay regular admission.

• Do guest passes expire?

  No. Guest passes issued with a previous membership do not expire. They may be used for general admission but are not valid for Boo at the Zoo, the Easter Treasure Hunt, or other special events. Copied or counterfeit guest passes will not be accepted.

• What is a unnamed guest?

  An unnamed guest is a friend or family member who is not listed on your membership. Select membership levels allow you to bring one or two unnamed guests with you on each visit. The named member must be present for the unnamed guest to receive admission.

• Does my unnamed guest receive a free train ride?

  Yes. If your membership includes complimentary train rides, your unnamed guest will also receive a free train ride when visiting with you.

• How many adults can be listed on a membership?

  A maximum of two named adults may be listed on a Good Zoo membership. Memberships are non-transferable, and unnamed guests may not use the membership unless a named member is present.

• What discounts are included with my membership?

  Many membership levels include discounts on camps, birthday parties, educational programs, gift shop purchases, and select animal encounters. Discount amounts vary by membership level and program. Gold, Sustaining, Patron, and Curator Club members also receive 50% off select animal encounters from January through March, based on availability.

• How do I receive my member discount when booking online?

  When making an online reservation or purchase, sign in using the email address associated with your membership and your account password. Your eligible member discounts will automatically be applied during checkout.

• Can I use my membership for field trips or group visits?

  No. Membership admission benefits do not apply to organized group visits or field trips.

• What happens if I lose my souvenir mug or mug coupon?

  Lost mug coupons cannot be replaced. If you lose your mug, you may purchase a replacement for $5 plus applicable tax and fees by presenting your membership card and photo ID. Discounted refills are only available when you bring your mug.

• How do I redeem my souvenir mug?

  If your membership includes a souvenir mug, redeem your mug coupon at either zoo concession stand when open. Concession hours vary by season.

• How do I receive me souvenir mug(s) or printed membership card?

  Coupons for souvenir mugs and printed membership cards will be available for pickup during your first visit to the Good Zoo. Please allow up to 48 hours after your purchase for processing.

  If you would prefer to have your items mailed, please contact the Good Zoo office at 304-243-4100 to make arrangements.

• Can I change my membership?

  You can upgrade your membership at any time online or by visiting the Good Zoo office. You will only pay the difference between your current membership level and the new level.

  Membership downgrades are not available during an active membership term. You may choose a lower membership level when it's time to renew your membership.

• Do I need to keep my membership receipt?

  Yes. Please keep a copy of your receipt as proof of membership until you receive your membership credentials.
